The U.S. Department of Education has issued a proposed rule titled Accreditation, Innovation, and Modernization (AIM): The Secretary's Recognition of Accrediting Agencies; Institutional Eligibility Under the Higher Education Act of 1965, as Amended; Student Assistance General Provisions.
The proposed rule would revise federal requirements governing accreditation and institutional eligibility in higher education. Some provisions could affect how specialized health-profession education programs are evaluated, including requirements related to program length, program requirements, and standards adopted in the public interest.
For Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (AHM), it is important that federal accreditation requirements appropriately recognize the educational and supervised clinical training necessary to prepare graduates for national certification, state licensure, and safe patient care.
Comments are most effective when they reflect your own professional, educational, clinical, or student experience. We encourage members of the AHM community to personalize the available templates and explain why appropriate education and clinical training standards matter to practitioners, students, patients, and the communities they serve.
